Water 900 100 LHF products

OUR POLICY IS TO DISCUSS A FISH HEALTH PROBLEM WITH HOBBYISTS TO ENSURE THE APPROPRIATE PRODUCT IS RECOMMENDED. CHEMICALS HAVE SIDE-EFFECTS AND THEIR USE IN ANY POND SHOULD BE AVOIDED UNLESS A GENUINE PROBLEM IS DIAGNOSED. EVEN THEN, IT IS IMPORTANT TO ESTABLISH IF CHEMICALS CAN ACTUALLY CONTROL THE HEALTH PROBLEM OR IF A NEW PERSPECTIVE IS REQUIRED.

LFH BioDip
Sold in pairs

BioDipSensitive to certain specific fish pathogens our BioDip is used to assess the bacterial level of pond water. When a high level of bacteria is suspected due to some signs in the fish such as raised scales or skin reddening the dip can confirm if this is water borne. The dips are supplied in a pack of two and should be left unopened until use. A leaflet is supplied with every pack and explains how to take the dip, incubate it at home, and read the result. A BioDip can be taken before and after the use of a pond medication to ascertain how effective it has been. If you have any problems using or reading the BioDip we are pleased to advise.

Envirex
400gms 1Kg & 2Kg

Envirex was created to make ponds far more hygienic and less chance of disease developing in the fish. Envirex degrades all types of solid waste matter whilst lowering ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate and other unwanted substances in pond water. The product can help to reduce the amount of filter cleaning, pond vacuuming and general maintenance. Envirex is a natural product and cannot kill blanket weed or algae like a chemical but it can inhibit its growth but this requires regular use.
Assessing the dose: All benefits of Envirex are seen with regular use and this is safe as it is non chemical. Customising the dose level to suit individual ponds allows for economic control. The amount required is directly related to the volume of fish stocked and the food they consume not the gallonage and this is why the dose level can be adjusted by the user as ponds vary greatly. If the fish create more waste one week due to heavy feeding use Envirex two or three times that week and then revert to normal use the following week . Instructions for first use: Envirex should be mixed with water to a milky consistency before introduction into pond or the filter.
When first using Envirex 80 grams per 1,000 gallons to a new pond or 40 grams per 1,000 gallons to a mature pond and wait a few days for settlement.
Regular applications: After settlement commence weekly use. The average pond with a low stocking density needs 5 grams per 1,000 gallons every 4-7 days to control unwanted substances and solids. However overstocked ponds or those with water quality problems may need 15-20 grams per 1,000 gallons adapt to individual needs. Envirex is natural and harmless overdose is impossible. The product can be used all year round but if discontinued for winter re-seeds the pond with the first application dose again in spring. There is no need to switch off ultra violet sterilisers when using Envirex and the product does not interfere with any pond medication.

Pond Detox Formula (PDF)
300gms 1 Kg & 2Kg

Neutralises:-
Airborne pollution / Tap water contamination / Heavy metals / Horticultural products / Plant toxins / Acid rain / Ammonia / Nitrite / Chemical overdose and general poor pond water conditions.

The list of substances that can end up in a pond is endless. In some cases, the fish may be mildly affected by a contaminant whilst the degree of toxicity in other ponds can be severe. When the fish are at greater risk more Pond Detox Formula will be required as a neutralising agent whereas minor irritation following heavy rain for example may respond to less of the product depending on the acidity of the rain. Pond Detox Formula can also be used in quarantine, hospital, or temporary tank facilities. Even at low levels, fish are more susceptible to disease when exposed to any water contaminant. Pond Detox Formula neutralises all forms of pollution, improves water clarity, and settles particles. It can enrich the water improving skin lustre and optimising fish health.

DOSE:   2 TABLESPOONS OF PDF PER 1,000 GALLONS
EVERY 2 HOURS UNTIL THE FISH IMPROVE

The level of contamination and the degree of toxicity will vary in every pond
The dose level is only a guideline. PDF is non-chemical and very safe

Combat Water Formula
20 grams

Combat is a pond water treatment formula blended from various substances that can lower common water borne pathogens. Most ponds will harbour harmful organisms that can eventfully cause disease to the skin or the gills of fish. If levels are allowed to remain untreated the potential risk of various types of disease both primary and secondary increases. The standard dose is 10 grams to 1,000 gallons of water and this will lower the potential for any water borne bacteria, parasites or other harmful organisms to reach a level where the fish are at risk. In cases where pond hygiene has been minimal for some time or the pond water has been allowed to return to the pond after filter maintenance the possibility exists that any pathogens harboured in the filter have been disturbed. This places the fish at a greater risk from water borne organisms and a higher dose of 20 grams per 1,000 gallons is recommended.

Reminex plus
2.5Kg & 5Kg

Reminex is a blend of natural clays that improve the pond conditions and replace essential minerals in the water .The mineral content of water is vital for healthy fish and heavy or acid rainfall, water purifiers, ultra violet sterilisers and even the passage of time will lower it. Fish cannot obtain every mineral they need from their diet and have to extract some from the water they live in. Coloration and skin quality can improve with regular use and can also put a sparkle in the pond water. Reminex can be used directly in the pond or mixed with pond water. A maximum dose level of 300 grams per 1,000 gallons reflects the clouding of Japanese clay ponds and is recommended off-season when not spending time by the pond. This high dose may intensify skin colour in Koi. To simply boost the mineral level of the pond use 50 grams per 1,000 gallons. To put a sparkle in the water 10-20 grams per 1,000 gallons. For a bath 4 grams per 25 gallons with an airline.

Chlorex
300ml & 500ml

Removes unwanted substances from tap water. It is a full water conditioner not just a dechlorinator and therefore Chlorex can be used at all water changes and even after heavy rain to prevent the fish becoming irritated. It is only necessary to dechlorinate the water that has been changed not the whole pond.

Naturashell

Chemical buffering of pond pH is undesirable as an unstable pH can alter several times during attempts to buffer it posing risks to fish. Naturashell prevents a drop in pH taking place as the material will naturally go into to solution in response to the slightest decrease and gently buffer the water back to its normal level. Naturashell is blended from several shell types so its properties provide a broader spectrum response than one type of shell alone can. Naturashell will support carbonate hardness in variable environments and prevent drops in pH and lower phosphates. We suggest a basic level of one - two tubs per 1,000 gallons and a larger volume in ponds in which the carbonate hardness has been known to crash.

High Porosity Zeolite

Zeolite is an ionic exchange resin and the LFH material has a greater porosity than other zeolite. The resin removes ammonia, nitrite and other substances from pond water. Invaluable in new ponds, quarantine and hospital tanks where filtration may not be effective. Rinse before use and occasionally soak the zeolite in a solution of 1 kg of salt in 10 litres of water for 12 hours to discharge and restore its properties. The amount of zeolite needed depends on individual circumstances and whether filtration is in use.

Activex Filtration Bacteria

Activex filtration bacteria contains a mineral rich gel that sticks to all filter media. The minerals in the gel are food for the filter bacteria allowing them to rapidly reproduce and therefore colonise the filter faster. Activex contains all the necessary strains of bacteria that support the parts of the nitrogen cycle that are vital to a healthy pond filter system.

Dose: Introduce 10 ml of Activex per cubic foot of biological filter - there is no need to measure this precisely. Feed Activex into the biological part of the filter not the mechanical area.  In a mature pond use Activex occasionally to boost filter performance particularly and after chemical treatment or heavy feeding.  In new ponds allow 2 or 3 days between each application of Activex.  In the case of a new pond test the water frequently for ammonia and nitrite – when the filter is mature test regularly to ensure the water is safe for fish.
